Rotation GONE!

I just can't seem to stay with the rotation that I set up. So I've decided that I really want to finish HAED's Treasure Dragon Stocking (since I started last year and still haven't finished it for my son). I'll work more on it than anything else. But I do still have the SAL's that I need to work on too, so I'll work on those as I get tired of changing threads all the time.

Okay, already my rotation is "out the window". I forgot that some of these are on a deadline and you have to finish a part and show a picture before you can get the next part. So I'll be redoing my rotation over the weekend to include these. Plus I added the Wal D'Champs Rose Garden SAL from several years ago, so that one will have to be added also.

So far I have:
1. Rose Garden SAL - Wal D'Champs (have to finish a part before receiving the next)
2. Berlin Work Sampler - Sticklounge Group (same as above)
3. Heart Note Alley - Sticklounge Group (same as above.

I may work on #'s 2 & 3 as the parts come out and then work on Rose Garden in between since it's really big and I only have until September of 2012 to finish it, or pay for the parts. I may just pay for the parts and add it to the list. Don't know yet.

Here is the complete stitched piece. I used HDF "Yawning Mountain" on 28ct Ecru Evenweave. Since I'm not real handy with a sewing machine, I'm going to take it to my aunt and let her finish it for me.

This is the left side and if you look at the top part, the colors are pretty close to what they should be. The bottom is much lighter.

This is the middle panel and same as above, the colors in the top are closer than the colors at the bottom.

This is the right side, which will wind up being the front. In this photo the colors at the top are very, very close to being right.

I started this a long while ago, when it first came out, but other things, like life, got in the way.

I finally finished Part 3 last night and started on Part 4. It's a very easy stitch and I can watch TV, or rather listen to it, and work on this without being afraid that I've miscounted somewhere.

I'll post another progress picture when I finish Part 4.

This is my progress as of March 27, 2011. You can just start making out the details in this design, like the dragon's tail. The part I'm working on now is the treasure chest.

I have two more HAED's waiting in the wings - Queen of Hearts, for my daughter and A Peacock and Doves for me.

This is my progress on the Dragon Stocking by HAED as of November 8, 2010. I was determined to finish the row I was working on this weekend and I did, about 10 minutes ago. I really love how this is coming together. It's going to be gorgeous and my son loves it. He checks it every night when he comes in from work to see how much I got done on it that day.

This is my progress on the Dragon Stocking that I'm doing for my son for Christmas. Bet it won't be done by this Christmas!! :) I always start at the bottom right hand side when it's an "all over" design. My stitches just look and lay better that way. This is the toe/sole part and I can actually see the dragon's tale now!! Can you?

I'm doing it on Cream 18ct Aida with DMC (Yuck). I wish I could have afforded to buy the rest of the HDF silks to finish this with. SORRY VIKKI!!

This will be my next design. I purchased this from Vikki Clayton on my trip to PA in July, or was it June. I've already finished the design for the top, but only have it about half way stitched and then will place it where it's supposed to go and then post another picture. Then on to the sloped sides. Hmmmm......what should I do for those. I really want this to look "elegant".

I forgot to edit this picture, so can you see my Dr. Pepper bottle on the right. I'm a DP junkie!!

I'm hoping to have this design finished and able to take it to Vikki next year for her exhibit.

This is Part 1 of RMT we are stitching through the Sticklounge group. I've finished part 1 and have started on part 2. This is a really easy to stitch. I've enjoyed working on this piece, but it's going to be VERY large. I'm working on White 18ct Aida using DMC 3687, which is much brighter in real life. For those of you that don't know RMT is also listed, on the net somewhere, as ABC 1900. I really love the alphabets in this design and have enjoyed stitching it.

TRIP TO VIKKI'S!!

Well, I 'm back from my trip up to PA to visit Vikki Clayton! It was wonderful! I took lots of pictures, which I will post later on today.

We left about 6:00pm on Wednesday evening and stayed that night in Bristol, VA. Then went the rest of the way up on Thursday. We got to the hotel about 5:00pm. Absolutely gorgeous country up through Virginia, but I-81 is LONG!

Friday morning we went to Lancaster to visit the Quilt Museum and the architecture of some of the buildings is just amazing. We went through the market next to the Visitor's Center and Oh My what a market. We left there about 2:00pm and headed to Hershey Park for the evening. We did the Hershey World tour and tasting. I have to tell you though, the tasting is WAY over priced for 5 little bitty pieces of candy.

Saturday, Sarah, my daughter, and I went up to Vikki's place and I made the mistake of going over Gold Mine Road. We have some treacherous mountain roads here in north GA, but that one scared me to death. Anyway, we got to Vikki's, after several wrong turns, and the place is amazing!!!! I love old buildings and this place is a goldmine! Not only does it have Vikki and all the walls of her lovely silks, but it has lots of character, too!

Karen Bugg brought "Mette" in all her glory and she is beautiful in person. There were lots of great stitched items there! I was just amazed! Sarah decided she wanted to try painting some fabric, so Lynn showed her what to do and I have to tell you the piece turned out gorgeous and she's excited. Vikki and Lynn taught her how to do a few silk ribbon stitches and she fell in love with all the ribbon, so she came home with a bunch of that and her painted fabric. She's a happy camper! She says she's going to do a piece and send it up next year for the exhibit. I really hope she does.

Me, I came home with one of Vikki's boxes, large piece of 32ct Jackelope linen and a few silks. The box was the main reason I went. I wanted one of those bad boys in the worst way. I'm doing a design for it and will send it back next year for the exhibit.

My "Stitching Bucket List"

The other day we were discussing our "Stitching Bucket Lists". You know, those designs that you really would like to stitch before you "kick the bucket". Well, I started mine, down on the right hand side, nearly at the bottom. As you can see, there are quite a few of them. Of course, they will be whittled down as I get a few WIPs finished and out of the way.

I started by looking on the Stitching Bits & Bobs website and going through every designer (this is just a list through the "L's", they had listed and if something caught my fancy, I included it. Of course, by the time I actually get to some of these, I will have lost interest in them, so can then remove them from the list. I will continue to add to the list as I find things that I really like.

Each one has a link to the actual chart, so look through it. You just might find something that you haven't seen before!

Unfortunately, I had a computer crash and lost all of my bookmarks and emails. Fortunately, my computer guru was able to unlock it enough to backup all of my work files and my cross stitch files.

I haven't done any stitching in the last month because I've been really sick with bronchitis. I'm on the mend, so maybe I can get back to some stitching. I really miss it.

Update on Illuminated Letters!!!

I picked up several books from our local library this morning that they had ordered for me and all I can say is OMG!!!! One of them that I got is called "Decorative Ornament" and is written by Owen Jones. It's my understanding that he's written a ton of books on Illumination and decorations.

I don't know what to do with all of these ideas running through my head now that I've had time to look through this book!!!!! I've got so many! I must get started!!!!!

Monday's Update - 10-12-09

Well, I've gotten 2 more parts done on "Mandala", but had to put it away for a little while. Got kind of burnt out on it. :(

I brought out "Splendor", which I haven't worked on for months. I'm still scared to death that I'm not going to have enough thread to finish it. If I do, it will be really close so I'm using the petit needles that I get from Vikki Clayton and using every tiny little bit that I can of each length of thread. We'll just have to wait and see. I so love this design and want to do all of the Splendor designs, but since they are only sold in kits (and I don't do kits) I have to see if I can find someone that has done them that is willing to trade or even sell just the chart to me. I was lucky with the first one. I had something to trade for it.

I know Stitching Jubilee is coming up this weekend and I so wanted to go this year!!! :( But I just don't have the funds or the time, since I actually have work to do right now. I work from home (Steel Drafter) and work has been really, really scarce for the past 10 weeks. I'm lucky I work for someone that will carry me when there isn't any work. One of these days I'll get to meet Vikki Clayton and go to her new shop!! :) Maybe next year, if I start saving now!

Now that I've finished "Zentangle", I want to focus on "Mandala". That's the one that I'm the fartherest behind on.

I've also developed a HUGE facination with Illuminated Letters. I have our local library looking for some books for me and I've located several on the internet, but just can't afford them right now. There is one especially that I want, "The Bible of Illuminated Letters" which, if I read right, teaches you how to do your own. I would really like to develop some cross stitch designs using illuminated letters!!

I recently was invited to do a mystery design for a group of German ladies and found several that they are doing right now that I've decided to join in on, well four actually!!

I'm going to post about each one seperately, so that I can track each design in my blog.

If you would like to join the group, there is a link to the left.

The way this group works is, you have to look throught the database all of the available mysteries that are going on right now. Then decide which ones that you want to join and send an email to the group requesting the first part. Either Susanne or Elke (Group Mom's) will send you the first part and when you get it finished you have to post a picture to the group and then they will send you the next part and so on.

Right now, I've gotten into four of them and are enjoying every one. I do plan on stitching the design that I did for them along with them.

My Little Pocket by NED - A FINISH!!!

This is "My Little Pocket" by Nouveau Encore Designs. I just really NEEDED a finish! Most of the designs that I'm currently working on are BAP's, so I really needed this. :)

It's stitched using Hand Dyed Fibers silks in black & red, over 1 on 25ct Silkweaver.

Now I have to decide what I want to finish it as!

I know I haven't posted anything recently, but I have been busy stitching!! I've nearly completed the bottom row of pages on "Indian Pots" and have started another JL Grandsire design. I've also stitched some Christmas ornaments.

This is a freebie from J. L. Grandsire from his website called "STITCHING GIRL". I used a dark red mystery spool from Hand Dyed Fibers and Silkweaver's 32ct Reflections in Pink Champagne. This stitched up really quickly!!! You can find a link to his website under "My Favorite Links".

This is the Case design from "Victoria's Quaker". I'm using a 32ct off white fabric from Silkweavers and HDF "Yawning Mountain" premium. This has to be my new favorite of Vikki's silks. I absolutely love this color combination.

This is my progress on "Indian Pots". There are 50 pages to the chart and this is the bottom right hand corner. I believe I have 5 pages completed and started on the 6th. I always start these "all over" charts in the bottom right hand corner because my stitches just lay better if I work up instead of working down.

2009 - Splendor by The Hearts Content

I've decided that the year 2009 will be a "finishing" year for me. I have so many WIP's and UFO's that I really need to get some of them finished. I will add a list of every WIP & UFO that I have found in my stash later and will add to that list as I find others around my house.

The first on my list will be Splendor by The Hearts Content.

I absolutely love all of the Splendor design and some day may be able to get my hands on the next one. I don't like kits, so I found someone with the chart only and traded her the copy of Blue Ribbon Sampler I had for it (Thanks LISA!!) and she got me a gift voucher from Vikki Clayton's site, Hand Dyed Fibers, for enough silk to stitch it with.

I'm stitching it on a 28ct Heathered evenweave and using some mystery spools that I got with the gift voucher. The silk is a variagated blue and I hope two 50 yard spools will be enought. I'm stitching 2 strands over 2 threads.

When I finish this one I hope I can find someone who has just the chart and not the kit (I don't do kits) for the next one that will trade with me for it. :)

I'll post a picture tomorrow of my progress. Ya'll wish me luck in getting this finished!!

At the moment, I'm stitching the model for one of my designs - ABIGAIL. I've changed the colors around a bit though. Instead of using black and red, I'm using green, red and gold. Of course, they are from Hand-Dyed Fibers!! :) The colors are Winterberry 1427, Willow Withies 3229 & Cerveza 4145, all in premium and I'm also using Vikki's 35ct linen! I must say that it's coming out absolutley stunning!!!

Here is the sampler that I stitched for my daughter. She picked out the color of thread, which was Vikki Clayton's "Carribian Eve". The fabric is, I believe, Sand Dune by Silkweaver.

I really, really HATE the mats. They were not what I picked out, but I took it anyway because Sarah loved it. The blue mat is alright, but that other one is really bad. If it had been a closer match to the fabric color it might have worked out alot better. I do plan on having the mats replaced.

The fabric is Silkweaver's "Poltergeist" 32ct Lugana and the threads are HDF, from left to right, Victorian Leaf, Verdigris, Nectarine, Blue Violet, Seafoam & Rose Blush.

Marquoir Story - Part 1

This is Part 1 of Marquoir Story by Isabelle Vautier of Passion Broderie.

I had started this once before about 5 years ago and was using a really bright red, green and yellow on a 28ct white evenweave. I just recently decided to pull it out and work on it some more and just didn't really care for it with the bright colors. So I decided to start it over.

This is done on Silkweaver's "Everglade" 32ct Lugana using DMC colors 520, 729 & 3726. I really wanted a more traditional look to this and love the colors that I'm using.

Here is my first finish for 2008: Rainbow Gallery's "A is for Acorn". I used an off white 28ct evenweave fabric and silks from Hand-Dyed-Fibers, Vikki Clayton.

I plan on doing the whole alphabet series and make them into a quilt for my new granddaughter, Zoey.

Well, it's another year!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I've made my first completion for the new year and have also made my first start for the new year!!

I plan on setting up a 10/25/50 Challenge for this year, but need to get my list together. I know what my first challenge will be though, that's getting my stash organized. :)

Will post more later, when I actually get something done and get started on my organizing.
